Rinko Takes Helm as President of NJASA
Bedminster Township Public School Superintendent Represents Chief Education Officers
Has remarkable record of improving student achievement
The Bedminster municipality, in 2008, was ranked as the #1 Community in New Jersey by NJ Monthly Magazine, in part because of its outstanding school district. Annually, approximately 20% of the Bedminster graduates are accepted at Ivy League schools. The Star Ledger identified the District as the #1 school district in New Jersey when ranked for SAT performance and low tax rates.
NJASA President Rinko, a chief education officer with over thirty-five years of administrative experience in New Jersey public schools, serves as a member of the New Jersey Commissioner of Education’s Leadership Team and works closely with the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).
“We are pleased to have someone of Andy Rinko’s stature serving as President of NJASA. His remarkable record of improving student achievement and his demonstrated leadership abilities are a great asset to public education in our Garden State,” stated NJASA Executive Director Dr. Richard G. Bozza.
Presiding at his first NJASA Executive Committee Meeting, President Rinko shared with his colleagues a message of concern that American public schools are routinely under siege. In his opening comments, he said, “We know that education is but one variable in a complex social equation. And, as such NJASA can serve as a valuable source of strength, consolation, and wisdom, when needed to help navigate the waters that are often unchartered and choppy.”
He continued, “There is always more to do – but together, we're creating a ladder of opportunity for our children and I believe every student in New Jersey deserves an equal shot at success.” In closing he added, “When we unlock the potential inside every student we not only get the best thinkers and workers who get into the best colleges, get the best jobs and earn the best pay, but we also get the best people – the kind of men and women who make great friends, good neighbors, strong citizens and leaders.”
Under his tutelage, the Bedminster District has received many awards including the Governor’s Autism Award, the Governor’s School of Excellence, the NJ Chamber of Commerce Benchmark School and the Project Fit America Award.
A New Jersey native, President Rinko earned his Doctorate of Education from Rutgers University. He received both his MA in Educational Administration and his undergraduate degree with a double major in business administration and secondary education from Seton Hall University.
NJASA President Rinko previously served as the Association’s Treasurer, Secretary and President-elect, before assuming his current position as the 2011-2012 President. At the county level, he has been active in the Somerset County Association of School Administrators (SCASA), holding various offices, which included that of President, Secretary and Treasurer.
