A Critical Professional Role

REGISTER NOW

The 2026–2027 Executive Administrative Assistant Professional Learning Series has been thoughtfully designed as a four-part program that addresses the evolving responsibilities, challenges, and professional needs of Executive Administrative Assistants serving New Jersey school districts.

Whether supporting a small, medium, or large district, the Executive Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of the superintendent's office and the district. As a trusted partner to the Superintendent, this position requires exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to navigate an increasingly complex educational environment.

Each session will focus on timely and relevant topics that Executive Administrative Assistants encounter throughout the school year. To ensure the series remains responsive to participants' needs, a pre-session survey will be distributed before each program, providing attendees with the opportunity to identify current challenges, suggest discussion topics, and highlight areas of greatest interest.

Topics will include developing a strong and trusting Superintendent–Administrative Assistant partnership; understanding the evolving role and expectations of the position; effective communication; professionalism and confidentiality; time management and organizational strategies; human resources responsibilities; Department of Education reporting requirements; legal considerations and liability; maintaining institutional knowledge and past practices; and other emerging issues identified by participants throughout the year.

To provide a well-rounded perspective, each session will feature a panel of experienced professionals, including Executive Administrative Assistants, Superintendents, Human Resources Directors, and Board Attorneys, who will share practical insights, proven strategies, and real-world experiences to support participants in their important leadership role.
