Powering Student Success and Parent Engagement
With Next-Generation Web and Mobile Apps
According to the Cyberbullying Research Center, at least 34% of today’s teens report being victims of cyberbullying, with many other studies suggesting the percentage to be as much as one-half. Cyberbullying is no longer a novel threat that makes headlines now and then. It is a de facto part of student life. What if we could harness some of the power of these web and mobile apps to give students the tools to help them navigate a whole range of new – and not so new-issues, from cyberbullying to anger management to character development to college admissions stress?
Our partnership with NJASA is doing just that.
We are working with NJASA to bring Evolution Labs’ Suite360 platform to students and parents in districts across the state. Built on an “immersive-engagement” model, the program delivers users highly interactive content, including robust, professionally-developed short topics, videos, “heuristic” learning modules and self-tests, pre- and post-assessments, surveys and other programming, delivered throughout the year in timely intervals that parallel the real-life issues students (and parents) face throughout the school calendar. The platform deploys each topic “nugget” via custom websites, mobile web apps and notifications, SMS and email, depending on the preferences of each user and school. The platform enables individual districts and schools to determine the topics and emphasis appropriate for their communities. In addition, it lets them designate which topics appear as “required” or “elective,” using sophisticated tracking as well as pre- and post-tests to determine the extent to which students (and parents) engage and absorb the material.
Also available “on-demand” throughout the school year, the platform includes a library of thousands of topics in areas such as:
- Bullying/Hazing
- Mental Health issues
- Social Media (pressures and responsible use)
- Bystander intervention
- Nutrition and Wellness
- Stress Management
- Community Service
- Time Management
- Sexual Misconduct
- Academic Success
- Drug and Alcohol use
The content also aligns with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) and its five core competencies: self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills and social awareness. In addition, the platform includes a separate track known as ISS360, the first web/mobile tool to support the suspension and detention process with a focus on active intervention and restorative justice.
Under the partnership, NJASA will provide guidance to help shape the platform to meet the specific needs of its member districts, while Evolution Labs’ research and editorial teams work to develop new content that addresses the distinct needs of individual districts across the state.
Dr. Richard G. Bozza, Executive Director of the NJASA, formalized our partnership last year. “Our role in advancing this platform will help further position New Jersey K-12 schools as leaders in addressing social and emotional learning issues through the use of innovative technologies,” said Dr. Bozza. “One of the benefits of Suite360 is the breadth of content it delivers and its ability to meet the ever-changing landscape of issues students and parents face today, enabling us to be proactive rather than reactive as the pressures facing K-12 families evolve.”
In addition to working with many of the leading-edge K-12 schools around the country, we’ve also worked with some of the nation’s leading colleges and universities. Covering topics ranging from athletics hazing to time management, we’ve helped schools such as the University of Maryland, Texas Christian University and Virginia Commonwealth University. We’re now bringing these advanced techniques to the world of K-12 and as a New Jersey-born and based company, we are extremely excited to see New Jersey schools among the first in the nation to launch this dynamic new platform.
