Welcoming Each Other In-person
Two long years later, we are finally emerging from the throes of the Covid-19 pandemic, unmasking in most places, and actually seeing each other’s faces in-person. What a great feeling! While restrictions and common-sense prevention practices continue as we return to a pre-pandemic world, most of us feel not only relief, but joy in resuming our face-to-face contacts.
NJASA events returned with limited on-site programs beginning in September of last year when we conducted the twice-postponed annual Women’s Leadership Conference with our partners at the American Association of School Administrators and the NJ Principals and Supervisors Association. The December Executive Committee meeting saw statewide representatives return to NJASA Headquarters in Trenton for our first in-person meeting since January 2020. TECHSPO ’22 was another resounding success with more than 1,700 participants attending the first three-day technology conference at Harrah’s Convention Center in Atlantic City. In-person programming continues March 30, when the weather-postponed Regional Women’s Educational Leadership Forum and Luncheon will be conducted at The Westwood in Garwood with more than 150 participants slated to attend.
The NJASA Spring Leadership Conference will return on May 18 – 20 following a two-year hiatus. That conference has always been a highlight for our members to gather from across the state to participate in focused leadership programs and network with colleagues. I encourage all our regular members to reserve those dates on your calendar as your registration for the conference is included for the first time as part of your membership dues! The conference theme remains unchanged from our 2020 planning: The Balancing Act: Connecting Life, Leadership and Wellness. Even more relevant today than ever before. Look for registration information that will soon be forthcoming.
The NJASA officers and staff members are here to support your efforts as you lead your school community during the final months of the current school year. We look forward to seeing you at our in-person events as well as our virtual committee meetings and professional development programs.
Please stay well and healthy. We wish all the best for you and your loved ones!
