• Prioritize Cybersecurity

As the use of technology in education continues to grow, it is essential for schools to prioritize cybersecurity. It is no longer enough to simply focus on physical security measures such as security cameras and access control systems. Schools must now also pay attention to cybersecurity risks and take appropriate measures to protect their networks and data.

School leaders must expand their vocabulary and knowledge of cybersecurity terms and practices to effectively address these threats. This includes understanding the different types of cyber threats, such as phishing and exfiltration, and implementing appropriate security protocols, such as multi-factor authentication.

It is important for schools to recognize the risks associated with cybersecurity and to take appropriate measures to protect their systems and data. Cyber threats can range from malware and viruses to phishing attacks and data breaches. These threats can not only compromise sensitive information such as student and staff records, but they can also disrupt school operations and compromise the safety of students and staff.

Providing cybersecurity training to staff and students is also important. This can include educating them on how to recognize and avoid phishing scams, as well as teaching them how to create strong passwords and keep their devices and accounts secure.

By prioritizing cybersecurity, schools can ensure that they are providing a safe and secure environment for students and staff, both physically and digitally. This is critical not only for protecting sensitive information and maintaining operational continuity, but also for upholding the trust of parents and the wider community in the school's ability to provide a safe and high-quality education.
