• Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!

To Our NJASA Friends and Colleagues:

I am absolutely thrilled and grateful to serve as NJASA President this year. I embrace the opportunity to continue to connect, collaborate, and advocate alongside school leaders in the great state of New Jersey.  As a result of your relentless hard work and forward-thinking leadership, the dedication of your staff, and the advocacy of NJASA - New Jersey is ranked as the fourth-best school system in the country.* This is something we should all be extremely proud of. A special thanks to each and every one of you!

Being ranked as one of the best educational systems in the country requires support and advocacy from many - our Association, our state and local stakeholders, and our communities.  Going into this school year, NJASA will have a seat on several important committees and engage in critical conversations focused on reviewing the educator evaluation system, the effects of social media usage in schools, and school safety and security. Having NJASA representatives be the voice of our Association will ensure that our perspectives and concerns are heard, and taken into account as decisions that impact our educational system are made. It is through this collaboration and advocacy that we create a sense of connectedness in important conversations that will bring forth positive changes for our students and the great educators of New Jersey. Our Association has and will always be "ALL IN" for the betterment of our students - OUR future. We appreciate your feedback and insight as school leaders. Please share your thoughts with our representatives on the:

NJ Educator Evaluation Review Task Force - Michael LaSusa, School District of the Chathams

Commission of the Effects of Social Media Usage on Adolescents - Scott Rocco, Hamilton Township, Mercer County

Working Group on Student Literacy - Lisa Gleason, Lavalette, & Barbara Gould, West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional

School Safety and Security Task Force - Nelyda Perez, Matawan Aberdeen Regional School District

In addition to engaging in these essential discussions, it is crucial for us as leaders to engage and connect with our colleagues within our Association. NJASA is committed to equipping its leaders with the resources, expertise, and assistance necessary to strengthen their leadership abilities and promote school achievement.

In closing, the NJASA officers encourage you to stay connected to NJASA and take part in the valuable opportunities for training, skill development, networking, and collaboration this Association offers.  I feel inspired knowing we are more powerful and accomplish so much more when we rely on “One Vision- Our Voice.”

I wish you all the best for the 2024 - 2025 School Year and look forward to the outstanding work we will accomplish together.

“Together, all things are possible” ~ Dolores Huerta

    Be Well,

    Nelyda Perez
